We want to introduce you to NW 1st Avenue.

It's in Midtown Gainesville — in fact you might know it as “that street behind University Avenue”.

Some call it an alley. We see an opportunity.

These 4 blocks serve many purposes for different users. For some store owners it’s their front door where they welcome customers and visitors. For others it's a back door - a place to receive deliveries or dispose of their garbage. Bicyclists use it as an alternative to University Avenue. For party goers it's a place to stumble into the night. But for us it’s a place with the potential to be much more - the perfect place to reconnect with Midtown.

More Space

We’re making it easier to visit Midtown by adding more parking to NW 1st Avenue. You can park via decal, meter or try Gainesville’s new mobile parking app to pay for a spot. Bike and scooter parking will be a breeze with many spaces & racks made available along NW 1st Avenue.

More Green

To make it walkable – and shady – new trees are coming to the Avenue.  We’re adding 4 times the amount of trash bins, and introducing recycling bins along the way.

More Fun

Improvements are also in store for more curb appeal. We want to give this walkable neighborhood the treatment it deserves. We’re adding public art and improving the look of the buildings and stores to make walking even more fun and interesting.
